Liminality (Envelope...)envelope3envelope1

Liminal is a work that was developed for a travelling exhibition. In each venue the print is applied directly to the walls of the venue. The screen comes with a manual for the persons who “mount” the work. The ink for printing this work is topped up after each use with white ink, so that the longer the work travels, the lighter the print becomes. The work was set in the new typeface Liminal, a name that can be interpreted as referring to a threshold or intermediate state, phase, or condition. This typeface is an adaptation of a lost type that was developed in the 1950s and redesigned in collaboration with the graphic designer Katja Gretzinger.
